Christy Maas

Greetings St. Joseph Parish, North Bend! My name is Christy Maas.  I am excited to introduce myself as the new Youth Coordinator at your parish. I grew up in Our Lady of Visitation Parish.  I studied Theology and Christian Ministry at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio where I finished my final semester in Rome, Italy.  Now I am back in my hometown and thrilled that God has led me to work with the Youth Ministry program here at St. Joseph Parish.

When I was in high school, (not all that long ago), God blessed me with a youth group filled with socials, ski trips, service projects, camping, sports and all kinds of fun activities, but most importantly it helped to introduce to me that being "Catholic, and holy" doesn't have to be boring, and that by being a disciple of Christ gives purpose and meaning to all the difficult and joyful moments in life.

So if you were to ask me why I am here it's just that ... I want to give each and everyone of the high school students here at St. Joe's the same opportunities I was blessed with in high school: to belong to a group that has fun together, struggles together, and prays together always striving to serve Christ.  If I was to give advise to the students of today I would give the same advise St. Paul gave to St. Timothy so many years ago. "Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." (1 Tim 4: 12)

Thank you for welcoming me in your parish. I am very excited to get to know each and everyone of you.  Please feel free to stop in and say hi. I will be here at St. Joseph’s every Wednesday from 3pm-5pm.  Many blessing!
